I am not so fond of history but I love navy and military museums . Navy Museum in Constanta is close to my home , central situation , and I go often there specially now when I meet Mr. Ursu an expert in history and a marvelous guide ! Four sections are presented here : ancient , medieval , modern and contemporary eras in 22 rooms . The museum is not very big but it 's made with love for our history . It holds thousands of replicas of various types of ships proper to the Romanian military and commercial navy since its beginnings till today, alongside navigation instruments, documents, books and photos, white and fire arms, anchors, propellers, lighthouse lenses, flags and colors, pictures, various exhibits of a high scientific and documentary value. There you can find artefacts and objects found from the earliest ages of life on this land till present, skelets, vases, costumes, jewelleries, weapons...you name it. I sometimes wish I could go there more often..what stoppes me? I don't know... Histria Fortress by ciuchi Histria Fortress is located at 63 km away from Constanta and is the oldest attested Greek settling on the territory of Romania. It was founded in the 7th Century B.C bt the Greeks coming from Milet, Asia Minor. Here we can admire Aphrodite's Temple, Zeus's Temple, Roman baths, forums and other remais of the great civilizations developed on Pontus Euxin's (Black Sea, the way it was called in ancient times) shores. The museum located there is also very interesting and I hope it's still in a good shape. Leave a Comment Address: 63 Km from Constanta

Ship from Moldavia "panzar moldovenesc " Navy Muse by timada, 4 more photos Everybody knows that our children don't like to read and learn ! I understand them because I stay very much time on computer just like them ... but when you show them the "reality" they can learn better and even enjoy that . So there is a place in this museum that I love a lot : a special designed , versatile ship named " panzar moldovenesc " able both to fight and to trade goods from Istanbul , and even farther , in the Egeea and Mediteranean Sea , to Crete . The Moldavian people , under Stephan the Great , controlling for a long time the western seashore of the Black Sea , with the strategic fortress Chilia and Cetatea Alba , has involved in maritime trades . In that room you can see also a lot of navy knot and the small scale copy of Cetatea Alba fortress . Leave a Comment Address: Str. There are many markets in Constantza and you can find them very easily . Specially in autumn they are full of cheap fruits and vegetables . So if you come here in this season you must visit at least one market . Most products are from the local producers and their taste is so good ( specially the grapes and the watermelons )...A 6 kg watermelon costs only 2 eur and the grapes are between 0.30 and 1.15 eur (September 2008 ) . These markets are open everyday ! Leave a Comment Directions: All markets in Constantza

This building, places exactly on the shore of the Black Sea, is an important sight of the city. The plans for the construction were conceived by the architect Petre Antonescu already in the year 1904. But the building was finished after the new plans of the architect, Daniel Rénard that creates a new style of construction. The building was realized into French Baroque, with Rococo elements. The casino was opens, officially at the 18. August 1910. Leave a Comment

The National History and Archaeological Museum by timada, 2 more photos The Archaeological and National History Museum in Constanţa, was opened for the public on the 25th of December 1977 ( in this building ) , to celebrate the anniversary of the Centenary of Romania's Independence. The museum is held in a building which is telling for the Romanian school of architecture. The National History and Archaeological Museum is not only a regional museum which illustrates the historical evolution of the province situated between the Danube and the Black Sea, but also a national one, which epitomizes the history of the Romanian people. 3rd photo : "Glykon - The Fantastic Snake" Leave a Comment Address: Constanta , Piata Ovidiu nr. 12Phone: 0241 618 763Website: www.minac.ro Other Contact: archmus@minac.ro
