In the well known literary Ticau Neighboring area of Iasi, you can find this charming memorial house, were Ion Creanga, the famous children's novelist spent his last years of life.
It is a typical house of 19 century, maintained in its original looks.

Before you enter the little gate to lead you to the house, you can observe on a wall, a carved blending of all his wonderfull stories.

As you go down the stairs, towards the house, there is a little open air theatre stage, where children have theatre plays of his stories.

    Monastery near Iasi

In one of the odder parts of our journey with our guide, we drove to this monastery on one of the back roads from the main road. We did not visit the interior of the monastery, instead we were taken up to an open balcony at the complex across from the monastery to visit with a priest wrapped in a long wool sweater who, after finishing up with the local folks who needed his words of wisdom, proceeded to lecture us on American culture and values.

    Nicolina neighborhood

In Iasi, a city where culture and history can keep a tourist busy for weeks, this isn't what you'd call a tourist atraction.
It's a simple neighborhood, largely transformed in the 70's-80's. As you can see, lots of apartment buildings, a wide boulevard, and lots of Dacia cars.

    Galata Monastery

One of the monasteries that watch over Iasi from the top of the a hill is Galata. It is situated in the western part of the city.
To get there taking a cab would be the best ideea: it's cheap and fast.
It's amazing how fast you can pass from the noisy streets of Iasi to the tranquility of the interior court of the monastery.
See more about it in the travelogue.
