There is a historical museum in Drobeta-Turnu Severin. I didn't get inside the building since it was already late but my guide managed to get us inside the park. There one can see so many remains of the roman times. There used to be some sort of fortress which is explained and of which you can see some remains. Though i needed the explanation to identify the pile of stones.... Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time. I could easily spend half a day or more there. Just exploring..But the next day being monday.. the museum was closed
I had for quite some time a bit of trouble to pronounce Drobeta-Turnu Severin. And the castle ruins are partly to blame for that. Aparently the ' Severin' part of the name became attached to Drobeta-Turnu part in medieval times. Severin was the name of the castle.
Nowadays the castle is in ruins but it is a nice site to visit. And from there one has a great view over the Danube

Favorite thing: But it is not very far from the university and it is one of the few places in Romania where i have had a decent coffee. This was at a time in my travels around Romania that i still tried coffee. I've given up on the coffee for now. I had so many bad coffee's that it wasn't worth trying anymore
