The Church Sf. Ioan Botezatorul (John the Baptist) has a very good condition even if it was erected in 1497-1498, and now is among the most valuable monuments of the country. The whole construction gives out equilibrium and elegance, these ones being reinforced by the clever system for attenuation of the vaults pressure and by richness of the external decorations made of polychrome enamelled ceramics. Leave a Comment Address: Stefan cel Mare Street, Piatra NeamtDirections: Situated on a plateau overlooking the central part of the town, the monumental pile from the time of Stefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great) still is an invaluable ornament of this old settlement.

The spiritual life of the town spins around Teatrul Tineretului institution having one of the best groups in the country. YT played a special role in theatrics life from Romania even before 1989. Placed at a considerable distance from Bucharest (370 km), county capital had a greater freedom from the censor's part and the reportorial and stage-manager's initiatives provoked the kindness of the critics. So, YT becomes very soon the temporary "asylum" of the most talented graduates of Theatre and Film Academy of Bucharest. In the present, YT is one of the most dynamic, modern and nonconformist theatres from Romania. Probably thanks to its youth: 70% of the actors are under 30 years old. The long existence through history gave to this town a high value heritage of historical and artistically monuments. Curtea Domneasca was founded between 1468 and 1475 and was firstly mentioned in a document from April 20, 1491. Ceremonies were held until de 17th century when it is abandoned and the construction began to fall to ruin. Today we have only fragments of the precincts wall and a part of the basement, all arranged for museum purposes. Leave a Comment Address: Stefan cel Mare Street, Piatra Neamt
