There are lots of pizza joints in Ploiesti, but many of them are simply re-heating frozen pizzas. The pizza at Jinx is made from fresh ingredents in a brick oven right in front of you. From the hotel, find the McD's, go to the right and walk along the front of the stores. Pass the Orange phone shop and keep going another 200yds. Look for "Jinx" in a small round sign.

Walk around the corner of the Hale to the left. Look for a singular door that opens to a stair case, go up to the top. The door will typically have a chalkboard with a few menu items listed. This place has a great second floor patio overlooking the main street. The scenerey from the patio is not that spectacular but the the atmosphere is the best in town. The staff are friendly and we quickly knew all of them by name. The menu is probably has the most variety in all of Ploiesti and there's not anything on the menu that I wouldn't recommend.

The Pelican Restaurant is hidden off the main street. The food is delicious and the service and prices are reasonable. Most of the staff speak English and ambience is quiet and relaxing.

Its simply a comfortable restaurant for local dishes. The food is good and reasonably priced. In the summer they have outdoor seating in a sheltered patio with grapevines growing on the walls. In the winter, you can seat inside in the quaint dining room. The good think about the owner of this restaurant (which now has a brother across the street, a cellar and a hotel) is that he managed to maintained the high standard of the food and services quality ever since he opened. The food is fantastic, while I was living and working in Ploiesti, I never left the restaurant dissapointed of anything. Western European people may argue that the Romanian cousine has too much meat, which is quite fair to a certain point. But how the meat is prepared I think that it is making the difference. Not to mention the side dishes (vegetables, salads, home made pickles) which are always delicious. A good selection of Romanian wines (red and white) is also available. Not too sure about other countries wines, as always I was stuck with the Romanian ones.
There are so many but I would recommend either the Masa Macelarului (a mixed grilled of a lot of meat - chicken, pork, sausages, liver, beef, etc.) or Tochitura Moldoveneasca (something like a Gulash but much better). Leave a Comment
