This is something I don't suppose you find in tourists brochures because all the people I found here were local Romanians.

Some Romanian friends of us took is to Slanic, in the surroundings of Campina, to this swimming pool which is excavated in a mine salt.

The water comes off the rock very warm and with such a concentration of salt that you have no need whatsoever to swimm. You just float as if you were in the Dead Sea!

It is a very relaxing feeling and don't even try to swimm! You just can't.

Don't put your head underwater either! :-)

Lots of locals and people from other areas come to this health centre to relieve reumathic pains and skin conditions.

You can have your own BBQ here provided you bring your food and you can even enjoy a little massage!

I had a 45 minutes massage for the equivalent in lei of 1,50 GBP. A real treat....

This place is outside Campina,a town about 30 minutes drive from Sinaia on the E60.

Church built in a cave - Ialomiciora Monastary

Built in the mouth of a cave, Ialomiciora Monastary is a unique find. Its well maintained, picturesque and relatively untraveled. If you venture to the end of the cave behind the monastery, you will find a small underwater waterfall.

First, you will have to get to the top of the mountain above Busteni (just to the north of Sinaia). From there, you can either go by foot, or take a secondary cable car most of the way. Either way, after the second cable car, it will still be another ~15 minutes hike.

Pay attention to the time because you don't want to miss the last cable car out, and its a LONG hike back!

    Walking in the Wild Carpates

  • If you are near the castle and you have a few hours left just follow the trail and go into the real Carapates. The nature here is stil very rough and virgin: a lot of old trees and little human presence. During our 4-hours trip we have spotted no one. There is a possibility to meet some great mammals like wolves, wild boars and brown bears. Also the oehoe and kingfisher are inhabitants of this paradise.

Go there and experience the real nature. Don't forget to bring some water with you; a map and compass will be handy.

Ok what can you do in Sinaia if is not winter when you can ski? You can go biking in the woods or see the Peles Castle or the Sinaia Monastery or go up on the mountain to see this "Sfinx" or the "Old ladys".
