Wesselényi Miklós was a baron living in the near by Jibou (Zsibó) who was famous all over Hungary in the XIX century. He was helping financially the Lyceum from Zalau so he got a statue from the city of Zalau in 1901. The statue was made by Fadrusz János who also made the statue group from the main square of Cluj (Kolozsvár)
