City buses are very cheap way to get from one to another place in Satu Mare, but its somewhat not efficient because the city center can be seen by walking... and if you need a longer ride a taxi is a better solution i believe (taxies are still very cheap in Satu Mare) and its much more comfertable than bus.
Most of the bus stations has been replaced lately to new ones. The buses are still in updgrading process, some are refurbished, but yet there are many old buses that need a lot of work to be done on them.

Satu Mare is an importent railway junction because of te cities idustries and because the county borders Hungary and Ukraine.
There are 2 stations in Satu Mare. The Central station is the old one and its located at Grivitei strret. The station is a typical Transilvanian station and trains from all around Romania arrive there every day (including 2 night trains from Bucharest) and ther are also international trains to/from Hungary and Ukraine. The station is not far from the city Center but you can take a taxi or a bus that are both located just outsdie the station.
The second station, called Satu Mare South is located at the other side of the Somes river and its used only by local trains.

Taxies in my opinion is the best way to get from one place to the other in Satu Mare. they are very comfortable (the taxies in Satu Mare are much beter then those that can be found in Bucharest for example...), can be found everywhere and the most importent - they are cheap.
