n my opinion Piata Unirii is number one attraction in Timisoara. Actually, I'd rank Piata Unirii the most charming square I've ever seen! It is truly beautiful and unique square surrounded by intresting, old and colorful buildings, including two churches (a Catholic Dome and a Serbian Orthodox Church.) To make it all perfect, there many cafes to sit and have a drink - or even better, a Romanian beer. Leave a Comment Address: Center

Timisoara's landmark by puuma You can't miss the Metropolitan Cathedral because it is the landmark of Timisoara. The cathedral was built between 1936 and 1946 and has a capacity of over 4000 people. This narrow brick church mixes Byzantine style with Moldovian influences. The church has a tall dome at the center. In the basement is a display of the 16th to 19th century icons ob wood and glass, beautifully preserved medieval stained glass, as well as books and other church objects. No admission free. Open daily 6:00 am - 8:00 pm. Basement collection 9:00 am- 5.00 pm. Leave a Comment Address: Center in the Victory square

Piata Unirii by Mique This is so far my most favorite square in Romania. If i would ever write a book and be lost for inspiration, this would be the place i would like to go to, sit and write. It is a fairly large square with all around it beautiful 18th and 19th century houses. And there are 2 churches. A catholic cathedral facing the square and a serbian church that 'butts in' between the grand houses. On one side you can see a little fountain and when you pay attention to it, you'll see a lot of people going there to fill up plastic bottles with the fountain's water. It is true mineral water and can be drunk safely. Leave a Comment

Unirii Square by Dariana Around the square there are buildings of a rare historical and architectural value : the Baroque Palace ( under restoration) the catholic Dome, the Orthodox Serbian Vicariat and its church, the House with lions – pity for this lions that needs a restoration. In the spring the square is overrun by terraces ,spread all-over :beer, coffee, ice-tea ,ice-cream, everything to refresh the thirsty passenger. Taste a coffee or a juice and the place make you an addicted to its atmosphere ,it is under your skin and you’ll return over and over. Leave a Comment

by puuma Don't forget to taste Romanian beer, Timisoreana;-). The best place to do it is Unirii square. Other traditional Romanian beers are Ursus (the most famous, from 1879), Bucegi and Neumarkt. The Romanian beer is known in Central and Eastern Europe for its taste and little price. Leave a Comment Address: Every pub
