The metal toaca

"Toaca" (I'm not sure if there is a translation in English for this word) is a wooden or metal plate used for calling people to the church.

The bell is generally used for more solemn moments, while in the monasteries sounding the toaca is the call announcing the start of the mass.

The sound of toaca is similar to a song and it has a different rhythm if the monk uses one or two wood hammers.

For the Easter night mass the sound of toaca accompanies the ring of the bells.
