Keep in shape while in Bucharest:
- take a jog in the park - Herastrau park has a 4km run around the lake - many joggers have their morning runs, some in the evening;
- rent a bike and take one the bike lanes that goes around Herastrau Park and from there to downtown - be careful with the pedestrians and with the traffic when you're driving on the road;
- go to the gym - many gyms, you can find them even at the mall (AFI Palace Bucharest, Bucharest Plaza) or in larger hotels (Radisson, Marriot);
- play tennis - tennis courts in Herastrau Park (that I know I play on) - it's strongly recommended to reserve the court one day before;

Where to fence in Bucharest? Well, try Spada Fencing Club. I meet there many quality people, I enjoied the trainings, the bouts. The atmosphere is special there, the trainers there take care off that.
It is realy nice to experiment a trainig as different as mine was at this club.
About the adress, there is a map on their website. You can also talk to the manager there, he helped me arrived at the gym by takeing me there.
Also, there was an entire family, parents and 2 children, taking a begginers course when I went there.
I liked very much how they behaved with children. And I liked also how they choose to teach fencing, I mean theyr attitude is realy ok.
Equipment: I rented mine for the club. The price was very good.

From November till late January several skating rinks are opened across the city. They're not huge (except for the one in Cismigiu Park) but they're fun to go to around Christmas time. Concerts, contests and skating classes (in the morning) are organized by the administrators.
And, of course, you can warm up with a cup (or maybe more) of hot wine with cinnamon.
The entrance is avrries between 2,5 euros during the week and 4 euros during the weekend. The program usually starts at 9 AM and lasts until 12 PM (or 2 AM before Christmas and New Year's). Check the schedule as a skating programs lasts 1,5h or 2 and then there's half an hour break to repair the ice.
Locations:
Cismigiu Park (on Regina Elisabeta Bvd ), one bus station away from University Square
Unirii Square - downtown
And more off the beaten path: Floreasca Park, Herastrau Park and Moghioros
Equipment: Bring your own skating boots or you can rent from there: 4 euros for 2 hours.

We found a billards parlor called "Texas" with 8 modern bowling lanes. The billards tables were crowded, but the bowling lanes were open.
3 of us rented a lane for about $15/hour
