Romanian Carpathians are disposed like a circle enclosing Transylvania Plateau. The Oriental Carpathians, which include Ciucas, Ceahlau, Rarau and Rodnei Mountains, are real museums where one can admire the beauty of the architecture made by nature, like Bicazului Gorge (Cheile Bicazului), or by human beings, like the old and picturesque monasteries as Voronet or Sucevita. In the western part of the mountains lies the volcanic chain that has brought up the mineral water springs, which can be tasted in spas like Vatra Dornei, Borsec or Tusnad. The link to the Medial Carpathians is made through Bucegi, Postavaru and Piatra Craiului Mountains, which have at their feet modern resorts destined for winter sports: Sinaia, Predeal, Azuga and Poiana Brasov. Lately, more and more areas have been equipped properly for the winter sports. The mountain resorts like Poiana Brasov, Predeal, Sinaia, Azuga, Bilea Lac have cable transportation, funicular railway, ski cable. There are also places where nature reigns and where, if you have the needed equipment for tour skiing, you can enjoy maximum freedom in exploring the Romanian mountain winter. Poiana Brasov, considered as the blossom of our winter sport resorts, is located at 1020 meters elevation in Postavaru Massif (Postavaru Peak has 1804 meters attitude) and it offers a wide range of entertainment: skiing amenities, fine accommodation and spare time activities at the end of the day. If you are a beginner in skiing or you simply want a relaxing tour, you should choose the track called Drumul Rosu (Red Road). It is 3829 meters long and it is 540 meters elevation. For a medium difficult track, you could go through Culoarul Doamnei (Doamnei Pass) on Sulinar track, which is 2441 meters long and 645 meters elevation, and then follow the route under the funicular or Kantzel. If you master the subtlety of this sport, you can go to the steep slopes of Ruia or of Lupului track.
You may rent all the needed equipment for a small fee. Leave a Comment Theme: Skiing/SnowboardingAddress: Brasov CountyPhone: +40-722-302329Other Contact: ovidiu_nan@destinationromania.ro

Hi, As for the first part you already got a lot of helpful sites, I'd try to add my 2 cents for the ski and weather information. So , April is still a cold month in Braşov, so be prepared as for a winter hike: cap, warm clothes, good coat and, very important, good, waterproof mountain boots. Ski might be possible, but is not sure, so I would not bet on the possibility of skiing in April. Two years ago I've done some mountain-biking in the area in April, during the Easter Holidays. Snow was still there in the forest (those making our mountain-biking an adventure) but on the ski slope it was already melt down (almost all of it). However I remember 10 years ago I've done skiing in Predeal (near Braşov) on the 30th of April. But this was an exceptional year, it usually don't happen like this. Hope this helps ! If you fell like I could further help, don't hesitate to ask ! All best Radu outdoorholiday.com Leave a Comment Theme: Skiing/SnowboardingAddress: Brasov area.

The mountians in Romania are great for hiking. I haven't done it a lot myself yet but i hope i'll be able to do some more this spring. The carpathians and the apuseni mountians can offer anything from easy paths to very demanding hikes. Usually, though not always, the paths are well indicated. But best check before you set off. It happened that my wife, Linda, had a birthday during our stay in Deva. The girls being photographed surprised her by gathering together and singing "Happy Birthday" to her. She was speechless and could not even take pictures. So I did :) Theme: Other

In the cities, soccer is played on paved parks and schoolyards. There are even intercity tournaments. Not many slide tackles. Leave a Comment Theme: Sports Watching
