There are marked hiking trails in the mountains around Vatra Dornei. There is a small tourist information office, just outside the train station, on the other side of the street. They give away maps with the hiking trails.
We didn't finish a route because of bad weather conditions. Just started one. Most of the routes are for experienced hikers.

There is a nice park on the southside of the river. The spot where the mineral water can be taken is a bit disappointing. The situation of the park is not very good, benches, roads and children playgrounds look very outdated. But still nice to walk around a bit.

The Vatra Dornei city centre is small and easy to walk around. There is one attractive pedestrian street running from the river Dorna to the north. Here are the main shops, some restaurants, and an internet cafe.

Crossing the river there is an orthodox church, the first I had ever visited. It had a loudspeakes and it was heard liturgical music, and it was agreeable. I have known the orthodoxes by a VT member, and I find them interesting.
Here, at the orthodox church of Vatra Dornei, a women gave us an image. She was very kind.

Don't forget to look for the squirls in the park. They are there, but they may hide. When found, mostly they refuse to sit still for the picture.

The synagogue of Vatra Dornei looks very neglected. Probably not functioning anymore.

This is the new orthodox church, situated at the entrance of the park. It can be visited from the inside.

The building on this picture was once very beautiful, and probably will be again in the near future.
