The best way to get to Vatra Dornei is to take a train from Gara de Nord Bucuresti - recommended to take 1st Class - Sleeping Car (Vagon Lit) It is very comfortable for a couple - If you are a family try to ask for 2 joint cabins that have a door between them. To buy tickets for the train you have to go to the agency in Bucharest somewhere in the Center I don't have the address at the moment. At the train station I think you can buy tickets only for the same day ( I am not sure about that please try to check)
The train departs from Bucharest at 21.55 and arrives at Vatra Dornei in the morning at 10.57 (Last year when I did this trip it took less time I don't know why it is longer with about 3 hours now)

Vatra Dornei is very easy to reach by train. The line between Galati and Cluj-Napoca stops in the city. From Suceava, the trip will take about three hours. The trip is recommended; from the train the agricultural side of the Bucovina region can be seen, before entering the beginning of the Carpathian mountain region.
