Train, plane or bus
To the right of the railway station is the interregional bus station which has a huge board with the timetable, prices, duration of journey etc. in the main hall.
The railway station is more confusing. In the entrace hall in one corner there is a information counter and in another hall some timetable and ticket counters with people lining up. It's not easy to see where trains are going and at what time.
The plane is the easiest as there is only one a day to Moscow Domodedovo. There are minibuses to the airport but I couldn't figure out where they leave from.
At the airport you can only go to the toilet once you are allowed into the gate departure hall. And they weigh your hand luggage too.
Use the tram for sightseeing
There are trams, buses, trolleybuses and minibuses.
Trams and trolleybuses cost 4 r., buses 5 r. and minibuses 6 r and more if you go out of town.
When you change the line then you pay again. I recommend riding around on the trams as they bring you all over the place like out into the nowhere, along the factories, to different markets through parts with blocks of flats only or into areas with wooden houses. In a few kiosks there is a line map for 8 r.
available, trams on one side and buses on the other.
In the minibuses you pay before you get off (contrary to eg. St. Petersburg)
Voksal (Barnaul Train Station)
Located in the center of Barnaul, about 10-15 minutes by public transport to the central core of the city. The main building is opened 24 hours, it is clean and there's a waiting hall. There are also 24-hour ticket offices, snack and news shops, toilets and showers, ATM, and 24-hour international telephone office. The currency exchange office is outside of the station and is opened 10.00 to 18.00 daily.
Outside of the railway station there are a lot of taxis, but we advise to walk a bit further to the square - like this the price will be much lower. It normally costs about 50R ($1.7) to get to the central Lenina Prospekt street by taxi. There's also a lot of public transport.
There are a few trains daily between Novosibirsk and Barnaul, but the fastest ones are:
Novosibirsk - Barnaul: departs daily 9.20 and 17.53 Moscow time, arrives 4 hours later.
