Minibus map
Here I show you a map of the Caucasian republics within Russia. It will be very helpful if you plan to travel in that area.If you take taxis you will be controled many times along the Bakiinskaya trassa, or highroad between Rostov na Don and Baku. But if you take minibuses, called in Russian marshrut, much cheaper, with plenty of local people, and the controls will be less. If you are a foreigner you have many possibilities of being searched your bag and being harassed by the Army.Trains are good along the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea, but not between Sochi and Makhachkala. From Nazran to Vladikavkaz there are regular marshruts all the time. They leave when it is full.Anyway, be careful when travelling in the Caucasus republics.
