A fairly typical American diner, with good and attentive service. Ok, there are some 'variations on the theme' of some dishes, so if you really must eat the same as you ate back in the U.S. then McDonalds will not offer any nasty surprises. However, for some degree of taste and quality, albeit at a price, then Starlight Diner can't be beaten.
If you are truly adventurous though, abandon your home cuisine and try some of the local traditional restaurants.
Favorite Dish:
The Peanut Milkshake, without a doubt. It is bordering on the addictive.
The place in Moscow where you can get a meal of the Wild West around-the-clock. Classic atmosphere of an American bar, homemade American cuisine and warm Russian hospitality - what more could a tired Moscow cowboy possibly ask for? All this awaits you at "American Bar and Grill", or simply "AmBar".
Nothing so special. If you like it - enjoy.
Favorite Dish:
Hamburgers,
sandwiches,
BBQ ribs and other dishes are made to the best traditions of American home cooking.
It is a well-spread opinion that the expression "American cuisine' is an oxymoron. However, you will discover that it's not after you visit this place. The food is not very sofisticated, that's right, but REALLY DELICIOUS! And the dishes are just huge.
Open 24 hours
Favorite Dish:
Try Oreo Coctail. Try Apple Cider. Try Cheese cake. Try Fajitos. Try nachos. Try onion soup. Try steaks... salmon... shrimps... burgers, after all. Everything's wonderful. They have a crafty chef there.
You would think we would have learned our lesson from the bad experience at the Starlite Diner experience, but my mother's "sheltered" life in Saudi Arabia meant that she was really craving a hearty, traditional breakfast. We gave it another try at this popular ex-pat restaurant. It wasn't as bad as Starlite certainly, but if you can wait for the return home to have your eggs & bacon breakfast, you'll be much better off doing so.
Favorite Dish:
I had a sandwich and fries, my mom had an omelette. . .both were edible, but unremarkable.
We had joined a Patriarshy Dom tour and the meeting spot was the Starlite Diner, so we decided to go a bit early and have breakfast. This turned out to be a very bad idea ~ the coffee was okay, but I highly recommend avoiding food at this restaurant.
Favorite Dish:
I had French toast and my mother had eggs and ham or bacon. Neither one of us quite knew what to make of our food. My French toast bore no resemblance to anything that had once been bread. . .instead it was like uncooked dough in the middle. It was entirely unedible. My mother's eggs were rubbery and equally distasteful.
Scott's apartment! One night we decided to stay in and just get sloppy drunk and watch videos. We bought some pirate videos in the subway, stopped at Stcokman's Supermarket and bought prepared food. We came back, made Black Russians and did exactly what we set out to do.
Favorite Dish:
After 6 Black Russians made with Russian Standard vodka and Kahluha it all tastes the same.

American Food!
We went to some local places and had the food which was OK, but it was the TGIFs just off Red Square where we had the most fun. Great atmosphere and the drinks were so cheap
The barstaff were very friendly and entertaining
Favorite Dish:
The extra large Margaritas
Being American I was pleased to find a Starlight Diner. It is also near Red square and it is not cheap but not on the high end either. The meats are imported from the US. Nice to have a reminder of home.
Service and menus are in both English and Russia. The staff also speaks both languages.
Favorite Dish:
Steak baby!!!!!!
Many places Americans are familiar with. TGIF (2 of them), Starlight Diner (2 of them), McDonalds (many of them) sbarro (many of them).
Favorite Dish:
Well. I am a pizza kinda guy and sbarro was good but a little expensive. We ate at the on in GUM, the largest mall in Moscow.
