European Cuisine: If you like sausages and beer:)

    having NY party with colleagues

A good place to have fun with friends, bit loud but if you are a such kind of mood you will like it. Live music on fridays and suturdays. Popular place to watch football games.

Favorite Dish: even if you dont like sausages that much (which is my case!) or maybe a vegetarian you will still find smth to eat, the food is good quality, international. Possible to get lost in very very wide choice of different beer-the best ones german, irish, czech...

European Cuisine: Great food, perfect location

by angelochka Updated Mar 3, 2007

    enjoying open air summer veranda..

Very nice place especially in summer when you can sit at open air veranda at one of the most stylish streets in the center surrounded by historical buildings, one of the best and wellknown Moscow's theatre (Anton Chekov's MHAT) is just in front.

Favorite Dish: speciality-italian and japanese cuisines, they also have their own bakery all italian deserts are just perfect. It's said that for sushis they prepare rice for each client personally. Not sure it makes big difference, but still nice to know:) Good choice of wine, mostly italian.

European Cuisine: Just like in the real metro!

by angelochka Updated Mar 3, 2007

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant is supposed to reproduce stylistic and ambiance of the real Moscow's metro. Of course all is more sophisticarted, clean and you can always find a place to sit (if you book a table in advance). There are 2 halls, one of them is downstairs and you have to use an escalator to get in, yes just like in the real metro station! you can shoose a table inside small cabins which look similar to carriages, but the bench will be more confortable. In the evenings there is live music. On the walls photos of different metro stations all around the world also some colorful mosaics on the ceiling.

Favorite Dish: Dishes are mostly international or russian. Good thing russian dishes seem to have less calories and not so big portions. Very wide choice of different beer. In fact beer is their speciality.

Lapsha i ris: Two in one: Italian and Japanese

by PolinaS Updated Feb 26, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Lapsha i ris (Noodles and rice) is nice place with two restaurants: Italian and Japanese. Prices are very “democratic” for both these restaurants.
The main spirit of Italian menu is meals cooked on firewood grill – meat, fish - delicious... mmmm very tasty; and off course traditional pizza and pasta. The place is really worth to visit even though it’s not in the center of Moscow.
Japanese restaurant (Ris i lapsha) is just around the corner of Italian hall.

Favorite Dish: The tastiest pizza-margarita, excellent grilled seabass with leek.

Syrnaya dyrka (Swiss restaurant): Fondue in Moscow

    Inside of the Dyrka

Syrnaya dyrka (Cheese hole) seems to be the only one place in Moscow in menu of which you can find fondue. The restaurant is small and very cozy. Design in red and white colors with candle lights makes it to be a romantic place with warm atmosphere.
Menu is given in English as well, service is really good, food is tasty. Nevertheless, wish them to have wider range of fondue dishes.

Syrnaya dyrka has two restaurants: the second is French which is located not far from Swiss one – on Bolshaya Dmitrovka 32, metro station Chekhovskaya or Pushkinskaya.

It’s better to reserve a table in advance.

    Limoncino: Great Italian Restaurant

    by bijo69 Written Oct 14, 2006

This is great great new Italian place with quick & friendly servive. The interior is warm and inviting, the only downside was the loud music (but I guess you have to put up with that everywhere in Moscow).
Apart from a large selection of pizza, pasta, meat & fish dishes they offer an extensive wine-list.

Favorite Dish: I had gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce with sundried tomatoes...very yummy!!!

    Geese

Information about "Old Walls" became obsolete. This Restaurant have changed its image. Now it is Beer Restaurant "Gans" with German traditional entourage.

They provide some special actions during days of Munich Bierfest.

There are two real geese living in the restaurant (see photo).

by kuere Updated Feb 23, 2005

every day a different business lunch for 99 rubels (5 swiss francs, 3 euro or 3,5 usd) incl. drink. usually salad, soup and main dish with meat.
it's not only just about the cheapest place, but also the most agreeable room (relaxing and beautiful decor!!) to be and friendly waitresses (which is really an exception in moscow!)

    Scary place: Mephisto

by musbars Written Nov 14, 2003

    Mephisto

Perhaps the most ENIGMATIC AND UNUSUAL of Moscow?s restaurants, the "MEPHISTO?S" interior plays amicably on the nerves and arouses an exceptional appetite. Reminds you of Halloween days.
Menu makes you think about eternal harmony.

Favorite Dish: Satisfy your longing with dry-cured meat from Mephistopheles? laboratory, black halibut on a grill, quail on a skewer, and a cocktail called "The Thoughts of Mephistopheles on a Transitory Nature of Life".

Patio Pizza: Good Pizza in Moscow

by MrRandMcnally Written Sep 3, 2003

Go to a Patio Pizza, there are several around town. Hand made Pizza's cooked over an open flame. It is a little expensive but good stuff. A nice break if you've had plenty of Borsch and palmeni.

Favorite Dish: Try the Caviar Pizza
