Kavkazskaya Plennitsa: themed after the classic movie by the same name
Thank goodness for the variety of Ukraine, Uzbek and other regional food dishes in Moscow from the former USSR especially Georgian my favorite! I have tried many Georgian restaurants in Moscow and this one was particularly good. Ironically I have read some negative reviews (see attached links) that the price, service and tipping policy were inconsistant. I cannot comment on that other than to say that we were there quite early on a Sunday afternoon, and with Russian friends, so perhaps we got better service and fair pricing due to their influence? Who knows? I enjoyed it. Many such theme restaurants are quite cheesey that clumsily try to recreate an outdoor atmosphere indoors. Kavkazskaya Plennitsa restaurant - named after the classic Russian film of the same name - does not suffer from this shortcoming. It is very tastefully done and looks great. It creates a nice ambiance. The food was excellent. The bill although a little on the high side was no more than the pizza restaurant from the day earlier, so therefore those are just Moscow prices. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Enjoy!

Iberica: Georgian restaurant
Georgian restaurant close to Ploshad Lybianka.
Very good service but a little expensive.
Great saloons and nice staffs, from Georgia, all with black hair.
Wines offered are the best from Georgia, such as Khvanchkara, Kinsmarauli, etc.
For lunch they do not close until the last customer is gone (we stayed in our tables having lunch until 5PM, almost time for dinner!).

Dioskuriya: Good Georgian cooking
This restaurant looks and feels like a big old country house. Timber lined walls and rustic furniture give it a comfortable ambience. We ate upstairs under the sloping ceiling. On a wet and windy night it felt cosy and welcoming.
Favorite Dish: Georgian food is probably the best cuisine of all the region. Interesting flavours, lots of good vegetable dishes, delicious breads and good grills are all to be expected.
Lobio was a gorgeous dish of kidney beans cooked in a crock, full of flavour and just the thing on a cold night.
The Khachi Puri (cheese-stuffed bread-cum-pie) was excellent.
Pork chop was a better choice than the mutton which, although it did have lots of flavour, must have come from a pretty old sheep!
Dioskuria: Reasonable food, strange service
I ate here only once even though it was just behind my flat. The food was OK, but the service was strange. As a woman dining alone I was hoping to sit quietly against the wall but instead the waitress seated me in the middle of the room with my back to everyone else and right in front of the singing trio. The singing trio were pretty good I thought, even if most of the diners ignored them.

Georgian Cuisine: Cirindalli
Cirindali was in a basement. Like all basement level restaurants, it is cheaper than above street restaurants. It wasn't really cheap, but it certainly wasn't expensive. We sampled a number of dishes from this place and were very happy. My Russian hosts weren't impressed with Cirinadalli, but I was, so it might be a matter of your own experience and expectations. Its not often I get to taste Georgian food.
Favorite Dish: The cool red wines were something special. Its seldom that a red wine can be served cool and still taste right.
Chicken Tabaka is one of my favorites and was prepared particularly well. The shashlik wan't as good, but the hachapouri was grand.
Genatsvale or Genatsvale VIP: Fantastic Georgian food, and a great setting
This is one of my favorite Moscow Resteraunts. I first discovered it when member Lalique suggested it for the first Moscow VT meeting (see her page for some pics), but have come back many times since. My favorite here is the Katchupori, a cheese bread, and the Baklazhan, eggplan (apergian) stuffed with a spicy nut paste, yummy. I even once tried an interesting lamb testicle dish here (not on purpose, read the menu wrong) but it was very good! To top it all off there is always some good traditional entertainment including a group of men that travel from table to table playing traditional Georgian instruments and serenading with traditional Georgian songs, dancers taht demonstrate some of the local dances and usually a live lounge band.
Caucasian food: Aragvi Restaurant
This caucasian restaurant is a classic in Moscow. Is beautifully decorated with frescoes on the walls at the underground rooms.
It was unbelievably cheap for us in 1991, but maybe the prices raised since then. We had a touristic menu with many little dishes, plenty of good food.
Favorite Dish: 12 pm to 12 am

Favorite Dish: Cabbage rolls in soup. Its a rice, vegetable, and meat mixture rolled in cabbage leaves, baked, then served in a delicious spicy soup. Will try to find the name...

Delicious but a little more expensive Georgian food in a well decorated restaurant

Genatsvale: Georgian Food
Nice Georgian restaurant with good food and attentive staff. They often have live music, so it can get a bit loud.
Georgian Cuisine: Genazvale
Georgian style of decoration, tasty food, good wine.
You can take a pictures in Georgian outfit. Fun.
Favorite Dish: Eggplants rolls with pastet.

Without a doubt, Mama Zoyas is...
Without a doubt, Mama Zoyas is my favourite. It's a Georgian restaurant and the food is fantastic. It's also very reasonably priced. If you can find it, it's a treasure.
