    Laff Cafe: pub and cafeteria

by jorgejuansanchez Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is a pub and cafeteria (although they also serve business lunch) very popular with foreigners or expats living in Moscow.
You can just sit down and converse with friends or have a homemade pasta.
The atmosphere is a fusion of Italian, Mediterranean and some Russian motive.
They have an extense wine list.

    Korchma Taras Boolba: Excellent Ukrainian

by dlandt Updated Apr 4, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This place is really something. Our Russian hosts brought us here and I have to say everything was excellent. Nothing was bad. They don't have average dishes on the menu, they get rid opf them to make room for the outstanding. The mushroom soup and sausage were great, the beer was served with small anchovies to chew on and overall the place just provides a wonderful experience. Sausages are cooked perfectly, the beer is ice cold and they have a menu for every language you could ever want to speak.

Favorite Dish: My favorite food would have to be the mushroom soup, but the overall best exeperience here was the pepper and honey nemiroff drink we were served. Its also cute that they dress up in traditional Ukrainian clothes.

    STARBUCKS: VENTI LATTE....QUICKLY

    by alyf1961 Written Apr 3, 2011

Starbucks, like McDonalds is always a welcome sight for me. I love frothy, milky coffee. Russian coffee is very strong so when I saw Starbucks on Arbart street I hurtled myself into the cafe and demanded a venti latte....quickly. After I had my "fix" I was then ready to face the rest of the day.
The tall latte in the picture is the one I bought to take away after I had my venti.

Favorite Dish: LATTE...THE BIGGER THE BETTER.

    Venetsia: Perfect Pizza

by livfaith Written Jan 7, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Venetsia is an extremely popular restaurant in Moscow. But, don't worry, if there isn't a free table when you arrive, just wait at the bar with a glass of wine until there is one available! Believe me, it is worth the wait - inexpensive with quick service and delicious food. Every time I go, I manage to stuff myself full with a whole pizza - it's just too delicious to leave even one small bite. My particular favourite is the Montanara. You can also order food to take away although sadly, they don't do delivery. There are two branches of this restaurant, one on Shabolovskaya Street 17 and one on Strastnoy Bulvar.

    Academy: Academy

by littlebush Written Dec 29, 2010

Or Academia in Russian, located on Commergerski side street just off Tverskaya.
This place is one of those great Russian cafes, a little experience but a great atmosphere in a nice setting, just 5min walk from red square.
They do great hot chocolate and pancakes but the menu is quite extensive and the rest of the food looks great.

    Remi: Absolutely Delicious

by livfaith Written Nov 20, 2010

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant describes itself as a 'corner of France in the centre of Moscow'. It's a small, but comfortable restaurant with famed covers of Paris Match from the 60s and 70s around the walls. The staff are polite and friendly and the service is good. The chef used to work in The Ivy in London among other restaurants in Europe and the USA and the food is absolutely delicious. I have meet him on several occasions and he is very friendly and speaks fantastic English.

I love this place and cannot possibly find adjectives positive enough to describe the atmosphere staff and food - don't miss it!

Favorite Dish: I often go here for breakfast - yum.

Tapa de Comida: Restaurant - Tapas - Bar

by livfaith Written Aug 16, 2010

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This Spanish restaurant has absolutely delicious food, also, when you order food, they bring you a free (but small) Bloody Mary! It's not expensive and is open 24 hours. On weekends they have live bands (of the Spanish type) and in summer, a lovely outside terrace. The service can be a little on the slow side, but the decor is great and it has a very relaxed atmosphere. If you stay late, they close the top floor and ask you to move downstairs.

Favorite Dish: Everything I've ordered here has been delicious - and I've been many times! However, I especially liked the duck and the Spanish tortillas are amazing.
