Shesh Besh is a Russian chain restaurant which offers dishes from Middle Eastern countries, such as Georgia or Azerbaijan.
The name Shesh Besh means "Six Five" and refers to a dice game. Depending on what you order, the waiters will offer you to throw a pair of dice. If it is six and five you will get a free pitcher of wine.
I once had dinner at one of their restaurants with VT member bugulma (Andrey). Besides some tasty starters we both decided for the Dolma as main dish.
Dolma are stuffed grape leafs, which cover a filling of rice, minced meat and several herbs. The Dolma cost 310 rubles (ca. 7 Euro, 2009).
As desert we shared 4 yummy Baklava, which are traditional sweet pastries from the Ottoman Empire. The price was 60 Rubles (ca. 1,50 Euro, 2009) per piece.
The interior of the restaurant is kept in a Caucasian style. The atmosphere was relaxed and the waiters were friendly. I must admit that we visited one of their restaurants way outside of the city centre.
I have heard that Shesh Besh are excellent restaurants for vegetarians, as they offer many meatless meals. At least they seem to have a large salad bar.
Thanks a lot to VT member bugulma (Andrey) for a great evening.
There are several Shesh Besh restaurants in Moscow. In the city centre, you can find them for example at ul. Novy Arbat 24 (Metro: Arbatskaya), at Smolenskaya pl. 6 (Metro: Smolenskaya) or at ul. Myasnitskaya 14 (Metro: Lubyanka).
The Shesh Besh which I visited is located at the street Chongarsky bul. 19 (Metro: Sevastopolskaya).
