    This is the main landmark in town. Unfortunately, it's in very bad shape and needs restauration urgently. In 2005 you couldn't actually see the main hall inside. There is access to an exhibition in the side of the building (entry fee) which we didn't go to see.

    In April/May 1895 Mr. Popov invented the radio here in Kronstadt. There is this little wooden house which a plaque outside. Unfortunately, after taking this pic the batteries of my camera went flat due to the cold weather. So don't leave without any spares!

    This monument has some interesting etchings on the sides. It's also one of the main sights in town and is located on the square in front of the cathedral.

    Of course a war memorial cannot be missing along with all the names of the guys that dyed. It's also located on the square in front of the cathedral.

    While walking around you can discover all sort of things. Old canons are one of the things. Located near the sea by the tsar's monument.

    This monument is found near the water where the old navy ships are. Peter I started building Kronstadt.

    This is what most tourists come for. They want to see the war ships. Well, there are some - in my opinion - old ones which can be seen. Clearly, they don't you to see the latest models.

    The chain of forts crosses Gulf of Finland from north to south. Northen forts are located along a dam and they are very damaged. Southern forts are well keeped. The Konstantin fort is accessible by car.

    What can you see in Kronstadt?

    Traditionally, the seat of the Russian admiralty and the base of the Russian Baltic Fleet were located in Kronstadt guarding the approaches to Saint Petersburg .

    Monument to Peter the Great, the founder of Kronstadt.

    The Baltic Geodetic Height system based on Kronstadt zero is adopted as
    land survey height system in many countries.
    Kronstadt zero is the zero point on the touchstone, what is measureing the level of sea, and what was marked by Mihhail von Reineke in 1840.
