As you stroll along the Water Avenue to admire the fountains, you will chance upon a man and lady dressed resplendently in 18th century costumes. You will be tempted to take a photograph with them for 60 roubles using your own camera. That was what I thought - 60 roubles for a photograph and so I agreed.
However, after the first photograph, the lady suggested other poses - waltzing positions and kissing her hand. In total, 6 pictures were taken and the total cost came up to 240 roubles!
Unique Suggestions: State from the beginning that you only want one photo to be taken. Otherwise, resist the temptation for a photograph.
Fun Alternatives: You can zoom in on them using your telescopic lens from a vantage point on the balcony of the palace or the stairs leading down to the Water Avenue.

Two different guidebooks indicated that the hydrofoil trip to Peterhof was spectacular. . .that the estate would be revealed as you approached, much in the same way that it would have been to sea-bound travelers of the time.
Sufficed to say, we were disappointed in the view, pictured here. The Hydrofoil is neither cheap, nor convenient in its timing. . .so if there are two or more of you traveling, you might want to consider other options (taxi, car & driver, bus).
Unique Suggestions: If you choose to take the hydrofoil despite it's price and limiting timings, just don't do it for the view. Think of it as a means to an end.
Fun Alternatives: There are buses to Peterhof. . .and a taxi ride split by three people would certainly work out to about the same cost as the hydrofoil, so examine your options.
