Vue sur les toits de St.-Petersburg, la nuit, depuis un des immenses immeubles d'habitation... où, mes amis, avaient entrepris de me faire découvrir les traditions et la culture russes.
J'ai bénéficié, pendant ce court séjour, d'une hospitalité et d'une chaleur humaine exceptionnelle, aussi dense que le froid très vif dehors (- 20° C, la nuit). Très vite, je me suis senti dans cette ville, comme chez moi, avec ce sentiment diffus d'avoir déjà vécu ici. Cela ne vous est jamais arrivé ? Arriver quelque part, pour la première fois, et avoir le sentiment d'être déjà passé par là...

Seen on the roofs of St -Petersburg, the night, since one immense buildings of dwelling... where, my friends, had undertaken to make me discover the traditions and the culture Russian.
I benefitted, during this short stay, a hospitality and an exceptional, as dense human heat that the very quick cold weather outside (- 20° CS, the night). Very quickly, I felt in this city, as at me, with this diffuse feeling to have lived already here. Didn't it ever happen to you ? To happen to somewhere, for the first time, and to have the feeling to have passed already by there...

Je suis arrivé à St Petersburg à 17:55 heures (depuis Frankfurt avec la compagnie Lufthansa) ...
Le temps de sortir de l'aéroport la nuit tombait déjà sur la Neva lorsque nous sommes arrivés en ville...
Le lendemain je repartais en direction de la République de Carélie, après une nuit plutôt agitée et cocasse, où mes amis entreprirent de me faire visiter St Petersburg quoi qu'il advienne...

I arrived to St. Petersburg at 17:55 hour (since Frankfurt with the Lufthansa company)...
The time to leave the airport it overnight already fell on the Neva when we arrived in city...
The following day I left in direction of Republic of Karelia, after rather agitated one night and comical, where my friends undertook to make me visit St. Petersburg whatever it occurs...

St. Petersburg celebrates "White Nights" ~ a period around the summer solstice when the sky only briefly darkens and instead the city is perpetually lit. Even in May, a month before the longest day of the year, the days are long and the sun is intense.

One of the nicest things during our trip was being able to stay outside and enjoy the atmosphere of the city ~ in good lighting ~ as late as 10 or 11 o'clock. If you can time your trip for May, you get the best of both worlds. . .wonderful hours of sunlight, but fewer crowds to deal with.

This photo was taken just a few minutes after 11, during one of our evening walks.

It is well worth taking a late night trip to watch the bridges being raised to let ships through - and seeing car drivers speeding to get over the bridges before they are raised.

Make sure you check the opening times before you go.

Dress Code: Something warm as it can get chilly even on a summer's night.

Award-winning theater of puppet art. In "Nevsky Prospekt" the street is the main character. Very creative and interesting visually. Even more interesting if you understand Russian. :)

Even though this place has a younger crowd, the bar's Soviet theme makes it worthwhile. Open from 1 p.m. until 6 a.m. YES, I said SIX a.m.!!

Luna Nightclub, one of the main established adult night clubs.

It has the reputation of being a classy adult venue with erotic ballet, tasteful intricate dance performances.
