Back where I come from in Wisconsin, we have a pretty large Latino community. This means we have plenty of authentic Mexican restaurants nearby with outstanding food. I don't know what we were thinking - maybe we were being adventurous - but we had heard lots of good things from some locals about the restaurant, "La Cucaracha" not too far from Nevsky. The name "La Cucaracha" - meaning "the cockroach" in Spanish, should have been enough of a heads-up for us! I ordered a mojito and some nachos. The mojito appeared to be a concoction made up of vodka and a shot of mouthwash, while the nachos consisted of low-grade chips with Hormel chili and Velveeta cheese poured over them. Yum. By the way, dining in this restaurant gave me my first taste of just how slow and inattentive Russian waiters can be. And why not - they're not getting any tips, so why should they bother to serve the likes of us, the paying customers!
Favorite Dish: Are you kidding? Maybe the sugar packets.
