Suoranta is an entertainment area 15 kms East from St. Petersburg. It's very beautiful place with little hills, and more used in winter time. I was there watching motor ski-sledge competition, where I met the famous former hockey-goalkeeper Vladislav Aleksandrovitš Tretjak, nowadays a member of Russian Cabinet. Here I enclose the ticket with Tretjak's autograph.
Many villages around St. Petersburg have a Finnis name, like Suoranta. That's because the town is erected just in the middle of old Finnish population, Inkeri area. The name Suoranta means "the coast of a swamp". Indeed, thet place is higher area, and the whole St. Petersburg has been a large swamp 300 years ago!
