The Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood

by keichi Written Jan 23, 2005

Church built in 1883 where Alexander II was killed. It kind of remembers the Basilica of Saint Nicholas in Moscow but the interior is really beautiful, full of incredibly detailed mosaics.

    CHURCH ON THE SPILLED BLOOD

    by RACCOON1 Updated Oct 9, 2004

This called the Church ON the Spilled Blood not Church OF the Spilled Blood because it was built on the site of the assassination of a Tsar Alexander.

    SAINT PETER AND PAUL CHURCH

    by RACCOON1 Updated Oct 9, 2004

Peter the Great had this church built in the Peter and Paul fortress in the European style not the Russian Orthodox style. It has a spire rather than onion domes.

See the many beautiful churches. This Church of the Resurrection of Christ is arguably the most spectacular.
Both interior and exterior are a prime example of Russian religious architecture.
