  • This lovely palace offers concerts. I went twice there and was enchanted for the good musical performances and the place itself with rooms in different stiles, neoclassic, oriental, etc. The decoration is very rich with abundant statues, mirrors, chandeliers, and old furniture.
    After the Revolution many artistic items from this palace were removed and taken to the Hermitage.
    On the ground floor they sell nice souvenirs.
    In the subterranean room there is a small museum where it is represented with impressive statues at full size, the murder of the sinister Rasputin by the prince Felix Yusupov.
    Felix Yusupov, after the October Revolution, migrated to England, where he wrote a book where he explains about Rasputin.

    While Peter the Great has his own Grand Palace, he also gifted his wife, Catherine, a wonderful Imperial residence known as TSARSKOYE SELO (Tsar's Village).

    Originally, it was just a small stone palace.
    It was during the reign of Catherine the Great which marked the great change into an architectural jewel.

    This palace of all the Russias is a triumph of Russian Baroque architecture.
    It was designed by Rastrelli with 5 golden domes & simple lines.
    Interiorwise, make sure you head your way to the Amber Room where the entire room is lined with panels made from a mosaic of amber! Quite a sight!

    at the end of Letnij sad, there's the summer palace, built in 1714 by Peter the Great as official residence of the zar.

    one of the places the Zar used to live - very nice but a lot of gold and the park very fancy - I liked the one at the Puschkin better (more natural)

    to see inside the palace it is best to take a private tour, which can be arranged at your hotel, otherwise it is posible you'll never get in - lines are way tooooo long, and I love decor and glitter, but my favorite was the Peter's office - all wood!
