The end of another tour, not the shopping trip. by mwe Not a danger, but definitely part warning, part advice. YOU MUST APPLY MONTHS IN ADVANCE FOR A RUSSIAN VISA! HOWEVER: on the Fred.Olsen cruise ship we were on, the tours could go off the ship on GROUP VISAS. The best 'tour' was the city-centre shopping tour. A coach picked you up from the ship & took you along a few streets, with a guide pointing out buildings, etc.. The coaches then stopped in the city centre & let you off to look round the city for a couple of hours on your own on a group Visa & then picked you up for a drive & some commentary as you went back to the ship. Nice! ...This was the case in 2003. I hope this 'loophole' hasn't been closed.

There are many gipsy people near the museums and parks - pickpocketing is they work. Take your bags and pockets under control. Leave a Comment

alarm-button on the Nevsky prospekt by eksvist In Russia You must to be careful about pickpockets ... I am wrong ... when you travelling, you always must to be careful about pickpockets. The places, where you must to take this warning seriously, are: the metro stations, the tricky fountains in Peterhof and all other crowded places, where peoples are loosing the attention. Some year ago, there was installed the several alarm-button on the Nevsky prospekt after every 500 meter, for calling the Militsia (russian police), when you are in danger. Leave a Comment
