    Europa Hotel Restaurant - breakfast
    3 more images

When staying in the Europe Hotel I used to have breakfasts and suppers in this restaurant.
Starting from 7:00 they invite you to breakfast – Smorgasbord (buffet).

The hotel restaurant is one of the city’s few that work 24/7.
This modern yet classical restaurant of European cuisine on the first floor of the Europe hotel, invites you to go on a tour of Europe’s best cooking schools. The restaurant’s menu comprises classic European dishes with oriental touch added by their chef.
Besides, here you can try such local fish gourmet foods as taimen, Baikal omul, cisco and grayling.

    Vienna Caf

We had a pleasant conversation over a cup of coffee after an interesting excursion along the centre of Irkutsk. My friends - local citizens ordered a lot of cakes and I thought it’s no need to go Vienna to taste its famous cakes – you’d better go to Irkutsk, though it’s a little bit far from Moscow than Vienna, haha!

    Canteen fare...

Budget option, unversity's often have low cost canteens... the larger campuses often have security but once you will usually find the canteen on the ground floor level.... they charge for everything but it shouldn't add too much.

Lancelot restaurant: Good and confortable Lancelot restaurant

by kinaly Written Apr 9, 2005
    Lancelot restaurant, Irkutsk

The name of the restaurant is written with latin letters… so do not try to find something in russian.
Good restaurant with good choices. The menu is translated in English and is quite affordable (about 10 Euros for a diner).

The atmosphere reminds the medieval times.

Favorite Dish: Do not forget to taste salmon eggs. Fish is good as well

Street-side smoked fish stalls along Lake Baikal

A popular snack around Lake Baikal is the smoked fish.

They are smelly but taste really good. The fish is usually wrapped in newspapers. On some train-stops, vendors can be seen holding out a 'bouquet' of newspapers with smoked fish clasped inside.

The fish market in Listvianka (Lake Bailkal)
great fish, nice view, no places to sit :-(

Favorite Dish: You can only get freshly smoked Omul but from 20 different women. It is the best fish I have ever tasted!!! And still warm out of the smoke. Even Jörn, our non-fish-eating mate liked it very much. You can also get it at some train stations south of Lake Baikal but nowhere as good.
