As you know we use to travel around Russia and Europe with our dogs – our German Shepherds. We often stayed with them in hotels in Germany, Poland, France, Belgium, and Sweden. Usually dogs are free of charge in hotels. Sometimes we pay from 3 to 6 euros for a dog. It depends on the class of a hotel. It’s quite clear when we have to pay 6 euro in a 4-stars hotel. But never more than 6 euros.
We traveled to Kostroma with our two dogs – Zharden and Zarina. What do you think of how much we had to pay for a dog in a 3-stars hotel in Kostroma? If a bungalow for two persons cost 3000 Rubles (70 euros)? May be 3 or 5 euros? No, you are mistaken. They took 500 rubles (12,5 euros) for each dog!
It was a European record, I should say, haha!
Lots of people seem to buy candles in order to lit them in from of the icons. This is normal pratice in a Russian orthodox church but not so in the Trinity Cathedral. I saw some church person collecting them again because you are not allowed to lit them in this cathedral. So they are bound to be resold again.
I asked the our guide and was told that they are only lit on special occassions.
Another thing in this monastery are the public toilets which were the most expensive I ever encountered all over Russia despite the lack of toilet paper. There are not enough of them when all the tour groups come, so come prepared for a longish wait.
