On September 28, 2008 in Krasnodar 215 anniversary celebration from the date of formation of the Kuban capital on crossing of streets Krasnaya and Gorkogo there was a solemn opening of a city sculpture based on I.Repin picture "The Zaporozhye Cossacks write the letter to the Turkish sultan". In 1888 Ilya Repin ar"rived in Ekaterinodar for a sketch of types of the Kuban Cossacks to the picture conceived by it "The Zaporozhye Cossacks write the letter to the Turkish sultan". In a village Pashkovsky he made more than ten sketches.
Cossacks of a village Pashkovsky, heroes of the Crimean war became prototypes for future picture. In the middle of the XVII century the Turkish sultan angered by actions of Zaporozhetses, sent them the ultimatum, demanding to lose voluntary and without the slightest resistance. The Zaporozhye Cossacks gave it the worthy answer in the letter, process of writing of the letter and is represented on a sculpture "The Zaporozhye Cossacks write the letter to the Turkish sultan".
Repin worked in Ekaterinodara over a picture «The Zaporozhye Cossacks write the letter to the Turkish Sultan» which wrote more than eleven years. The central image of a picture - well-known Zaporozhye koshevy ataman Ivan Sirko known for that organized letter writing to Turkish sultan Mukhamed IV. The artist saw in the picture the anthem to freedom-loving patriots and men of courage.
According to the author of a sculpture of a krasnodarets Valeria Pchelina, «the highlight of a monument is that citizens, city visitors can not only look at composition, but also sit down for a table and participate in letter writing».

Two charming-petty-bourgeois doggies and some words from a poem: "It not the dog's wildness, it's Dog's capital" Vl. Mayakovsky. Mayakovsky's charming playful poem about Krasnodar - shows his rare observation. In Krasnodar many dogs were valid. Dogs were different and good.
"Capital Sobachkina" is the comic city sculpture evoked by a literary poem!!!!

Monument in honor of the 200 anniversary of the Kuban Cossack army, 1897 (it is restored in 1999), the architect V.A.Filippov. It's on crossing of street Red and Budyonny's street.
At this monument truly surprising destiny. Creation of a memorable obelisk has been dated for celebrating of the two-hundredth anniversary of the Kuban Cossack army solemnly noted in October, 1896.
Actually Kuban Cossack army has been created in 1860 by merge of the Black Sea and Linear Cossack armies, . About these events, and also about heroic service of the Kuban Cossacks in glory of Russia narrate four memorial plates of an obelisk.
In 20th years of the XX-th century from obelisk top the overgilded two-headed eagle – a symbol of imperial Russia has disappeared, and in 30th years the monument was and is at all disassembled. So blatant injustice has been corrected at the end of the century. During celebrating трехсотлетнего anniversary of the Kuban Cossack army the new bookmark of a monument has taken place, and in two years it has appeared before inhabitants of Kuban in the primordial form.

Alexander’s Arch of Triumph was dedicated in 1888 in honor of the arrival of Emperor Alexander III to Krasnodar.
The arch was demolished in the thirties opf the last century.
In 2009 the arch was restored, but now in a new place: in Krasnaya Street .

The people call this church a white temple.
The foundation stone of this temple was laid by the Cossacks’ Ataman Kuhorenko .
Russian czars visited this church during their visit to Krasnodar (Alexandr III. Nikolai II).
After 1917 it was destroyed and only a few years ago was restored.
Old photos helped to restore this church.

The monument to atamans (the founders of Kuban Territory) has been dedicated recently in the centre of Krasnodar in front of the building of the regional administration.
The figure of the horseman was created within two years. A three-ton figure had been cast of bronze in Rostov, and then was delivered by helicopter to Krasnodar, the Kuban Territory capital.
According to sculptor, Alexander Apollonova, the monument is an embodiment of the collective image of Russian Cossacks. However, some people find a similarity to the legendary ataman Anton Golovaty in the features of the horseman.
The height of the figure along with the pedestal is four and a half meters.

The central street of city – Krasnaya Street (“Red Street”) begins from Pushkin's library.
It is a very long street and the most beautiful one in city.
You can see a lot of old buildings in this street.
Now this street has become the main shopping street with lots of boutique stores.
Shoping in this street is one of our favorite pastimes here :-)

Though quite in dispute, Russian law is still trying to become more justified. Corruption one day has to stop and let's hope it starts in the courthouses of Krasnodar. Anya, Irina's sister that studied law on Krasnodar's university, will show the right way (-:
Money talks, in court but especially in business. Many banks have found their way in Krasnodar and no other then in the Netherlands they house in the most large and beautiful buildings in town (still stating that they really care for the customer).

Russians are truely art lovers. The number of museums, theatres and other art foundations are much larger then in any Western country. Painting, dance, music and acting are school subjects and people are raised with a large art feeling. Sadly, due to too many students in this field, many end up unemployed. Others however make fame in other countries, thus raising the name Russia has held already many decades. In Krasnodar, many theatres and concert halls can be found. Almost every night somewhere there is a program that could interest you. In the weekends, it's even hard to choose.
