Two charming-petty-bourgeois doggies and some words from a poem: "It not the dog's wildness, it's Dog's capital" Vl. Mayakovsky. Mayakovsky's charming playful poem about Krasnodar - shows his rare observation. In Krasnodar many dogs were valid. Dogs were different and good."Capital Sobachkina" is the comic city sculpture evoked by a literary...more

This club has a beach theme. Most people are very young-probably in the early 20's. Mostly girls-started night at 90-10 percent girls and by midnight there was probably 70-30 percent girls. All of them were beautiful, many looked like models. Drinks were expensive and they gave you a card to charge your drinks on and you better keep it or you will...more
Great (new) cafe along Krasnaja Ulitsa with an even better roof terrace. From here you see over Krasnaja and can watch the people walk by, dressed up for the evening and night. The drinks that can be ordered have a wide variety and can be said to be outstanding. Cocktails for everyone!more
Krasnodar has it's own (semi-inter)national airport and even it's home airline company: Kuban Air. For most outsiders (non-Russians) one will enter Russia through one of Moscow's airports and then can go on to Krasnodar (KRR). From Sheremethevo and Vnukovo the best connections are by Aeroflot, but highly recommended come Siber-Air flights from...more
The best and fastest way to get to Krasnodar is traveling by air with Russian Airlines. I don't know weather it is expensive to get there by air or not but I know that for that money you can get a shopping tour for several days from Khabarovsk to China. It costs over 500$. The flight takes over 14 hours to get from Khabarovsk to Krasnodar with two...more
Russia's railways are the largest network on rails in the world. The most famous track is no doubt the Trans Siberian and the most luxereous is the Red Arrow running between Saint Petersburg and Moscow. Lines down South often have destination Krasnodar in them and run frequently from Moscow (several a day). The distance is still around 1.400 km and...more
ESCO (in Russian your write ECKO), is a CD-DVD shop chain in Souther Russia with also a filial in Krasnodar. Russia is wellknown for it's low prices for audio/video software products. CD, DVD's and video's are approximately 25% to 10% of the costs in the Netherlands (sadly enough the most expensive place to buy these items). CD's cost around 100...more
Running through town fron North to South, Krasnaja Ulitsa is Krasnodar. This long boulevard with various sections offers, besides green shady footpaths, a wide collection of shops. The immediate sidestreets add many more littler shops, that sometimes sell the craziest items. First section from Krasnaja Ulitsa (from Avrora to Severnaja Ulitsa) has...more
Now popular around the whole of Russia, Shasliek (the Caucasus and now Russian variant of Barbecue) is something that most Russians cannot get enough of. There must be a pyromaniac in all males here (including myself - hahaha). In a huge variety of cans, drums, barbecueshaped things and more, wood is burned to sharred coal and above the hot...more
Join the Russians in their religious activities and a whole new world will open for you (see also my page about Russia in general).A visit to one of the Russian Orthodox churches is a very special event full of mysticism. The iconostases of many churches are magnificent and the candlelights and (sometimes present) Gregorian singing give a...more

As if the economic situation is not already worrying enough with the wide gap that is in between rich and poor, the situation is even made worse by the enormous amount of casino's and gambling clubs that appear everywhere in Krasnodar (as well as many other Russian towns). Hopefully Russians know that wealth does NOT come the easy way and besides...more
This page shows mostly the attractive side of Krasnodar. However, this town of about one million inhabitants is for 90% old and falling apart - just like most other Russian cities, except Moscow and Saint Petersburg. As these two swallow up the majority of state funding, other towns are in deficit with every public affair. Roads are full of holes...more
Russia has had it's share of misery after East and West made the connection. Several financial crises have paralised the public sector and the state actually is already several times bankrupt. Taxes are relatively low and therefore the infrastructure is shockingly bad, as well as other public matters (affordable housing). Meanwhile the constant...more
The monument of St.Catherine is located in Krasnaya Street downtown.
The eight-meter statue of St.Catherine stands om a huge pedestal in the form of a bell.
Vitaly Shanov, a sculptor from Moscow, created this composition.
You can see four angels and a fountain around it.
The new monument became a popular place with newly-weds who come here on their wedding day.
St.Catherine is also the well-known patroness of lovers !
Finally, Jekatarina, that founded this city, gets her place in Krasnodar. The city started out as a Kozak fortress that fell to the grace of tsarina Jekatarina. The town that came to be around the fortress and along the river Kuban was named Jekatarinodar (Gift of Jekatarina) at first and only in Sowyet times changed to Krasnodar (beautiful gift)....more
Krasnodar has many educational institutes of which the university is the most important. Though quite different as in Western countries, students have to really study hard to get the paper and degree. Many other professional schools are around Krasnodar, such as the Sports academy and the Technical school.more
Two houses jump out in an endless row of remarkable buildings within Krasnodar centre. On Pushkin Square a wonderful fine decorated house in blue-greenish and white. The house belonged to a wealthy family in the days of Jekatarinadar (old name of Krasnodar) and also is now-a-days a museum. The rooms are in old styles and give a good impression of...more
Along Krasnaya Ulitsa, hidden behind a long row of small shops, is the athletic oval of Krasnodar. The building needs some attention, but looks quite beautiful and in true Olympic styles (Greek, that is). White and light blue colours, columns and a wide field surrounded by the redish running track.more
Almost to be called necessary, in Krasnodar there is a great place to cool off from the terrible heat that raviges these parts of Russia in summertime. On the Kuban polo-ostrov (peninsula) a large waterpark has recently been finished, creating a spot where one can swim and slide from various large slides. Great for children of all ages, as the...more
