Shasliek is the Russian variant of the barbecue. However, it is realy becoming perfect when you are invited in natural settings. In the full variant one starts with chopping wood and building a campfire. Then the shasliekpins are prepared with (porc)meat and grilled on top. Besides the meat one grills vegetables and potatoes to create a wonderful meal that - after forestwalks or games - is strengthening yourself to prepare for ... a Russian traditional "Banya"! (see local customs). In the Krasnodarskiji Kraj the perfect Shasliek is drenched with a red wine and of course, at the table the glasses are continuously filled with wine to be toasting until it is late.
