I noticed wonderful architectural style of the church in 2 quarters. It's distinctive of Russian churches of XVII century, before schism in Orthodox in the end of XVII; then such style was forbidden as an "old religion". In any way, there are some churches with "old style" roof in Moscow and region near by. The church is situated on the cross of Arbatskaya Street and Posadskaya Street

Yuri Gagarin was the first spaceman in the world, who has his flight in April 12 of 1961. He was a Soviet hero and in many towns of former USSR there are streets and monuments to him. Kolomna is not exception. You see a monument to Yuri Gagarin which is situated in the Gagarin Street

In the old town it's possible to see many old and broken houses, as well as churches. On the picture Church of Ascension of Our Lord, built in XVIII century and located on the cross of Komsomol'skaya Street and Krasnogvardeyskaya Street. Interesting style of bell tower with a clock

It's the first architecture I've seen when I arrived to the town. I walked along Tolstoy Street and in the end of the street I found a park. The church is situated in the park. I was surprised but in the church the Glory Museum, dedicated to soldiers of WWII and war in Afghanistan, is situated. Most churches in Soviet times were museums and now they are gradually given back to the Orthodox Church. The church was built in XVIII century.

It's very impressive church, located on the hill, not far form Kremlin and Kolomenka River. The church was built in XVIII. Now there is a Regional Museum inside. Some exhibits are quite interesting and for RUR 10 (EUR 0.25) you may look at this. But some exhibits are strange for me. For example, I laughed when I saw the production of local dairy works as an exhibit

If you are lucky to visit Kolomna at a weekend or public holiday there is a chance to meet a group of people from local Club of Historic Fencing.

Members of this club are fond of manufacturing ancients arms and armour. At the kremlin walls you will be able (for free) to try on any armour or handle a weapon. But for each photoshot you will pay some money.

    Tower
    by Pablos_new
Legend tells us that Marinkina tower was the place of inprisonment of the Polish princess Marina - "great adventuress of the unrest times". She was one of the leaders of Polish invasion in XVII c.

Marina Mnishek was a wife of False-Dimitrij - a person, called himself "Dimitrij, a son of Ivan the Terrible", a leader of Polish invasion in XVII c. Marina with his son Ivan left Moscow for Kolomna in July, 1611. She lived there as a Tsarina with all apropriate considers. In 1612 her lover, ataman of Cossacks and a famouse bandit, Zarutskiy visited her in Kolomna. There is no exact evidence of what really happened, but he with his troops attacked the town. The tsars palace was burned to smoulder, Pyatnitskie Gates were partially destroyed. Having captured Marina and a lot of treasures Zarutskiy ran away towards Ryazan', and from there to Astrakhan'.

The town hospital, located on October Revolution Street, has wonderful garden. I noticed that usual people use it too for the walk around. Of course, the patients use it in general. It's in 5 minutes from Eternal Fire to the New Town direction
