Itýs easy to get to ý just an hour away from Moscow, and thus makes a convenient day (or half-day) trip.The star attraction is the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, a monastery founded by St. Sergij Radonezhskij ý the most revered Russian saint. For those who are not very interested in religion, the place offers fine architecture, interesting museums, tombs of several famous figures (like the Godunov family) and an insight into the history of the Russian state and art.I have already made some tips on my Sergiev Posad pge, though this page is still a fair way from what I would like it to be.Here I will add just another brief note: when you go, it is just well to remember that loads of people come there to pray, and this has to be respected, though I somewhat grumbled myself when I could not get in somewhere...
