There are many shops in Murmansk where you can buy a warm coat to keep you from freezing to death. Most of them are made of soft leather and/or fur. If you're here during winter, you will most definetly need one!
What to pay: The coats aren't cheap but maybe compared to the prices you would pay for a real fur coat in Europe they are. I have no idea.
It was a city market. What made it so special to me is the fact that the temperature outside was -27C and the only head gear I had was a band. The band was a proud Swiss made-in-Zermat produce but was no match for the Murmansk weather.
What to buy: I thought this is the place to aquire a hat. There was choice - mink, fox, hare etc. I felt so cold and the place was so special that the only hat to match this situation would be a mink one. For every day use I would not reccomend it though. It is much more rigid than the cozy hare hat. This was an irrelavent detail at the time when it seemed my life was on the line. (image of the hat you can see on my introduction page)
What to pay: 100US$
Walk into any supermarket in Murmansk and you will find a huge range of different vodkas. Which to choose, which to choose... Much cheaper than buying them in Moscow or St-Petersburg!
