Bol'shaya Pokrovskaya Street is the pedestrian mall just off Mein Square in the center of the city. This cafateria is bearly two doors down on the right hand side. There is an ATM machine and a bank just past the entrance so if you see your short of funds, stop at the bank-o-mat first!! The food selection was quite wide, soup, salad, deserts, main courses and more; coffee, tea, juice, soda etc to drink. A very "eclectic" crowd of students and Russian "Yup'es", older shoppers, etc.! There are several great restaraunts that I'd recommend, especially Cafe 'Dionis' The restaurant is underground (in a basement) but is very cozy and has a nice atmosphere. This restaraunt also exhibits photographs from many of the city's best photographers, so it works as a gallery as well. Also, it has a very clean restroom (something not so common in Russia!)
The restaraunt has great Russian 'Shashlik' as well as great salads an ice-cream at an affordable price. VITALICH Probably the best restaurant in town (very expencive, but from the locals point of view). Has a nice open terrace which is used most likely during warm seasons.
Everything (meat, fish) was good, fresh, delicious. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Bol'shaya Pokrovskaya street. If you go up from Minin Sq., it will be on your right hand side. (sorry don't remeber house number)Other Contact: It's better to order a table bef

A pub in the basement - can't remember the name. Styled like an English/Irish pub.
Extremly good beef stakes, tender, melt in your mouth. Wide variety of beers - local and imported. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: It's on Minin Sq. next door to some Tex-Mex restaurant, to the right.Other Contact: All major Credit Cards are welco

by Anya_D Most of the decent restaurants and cafes of Murom are located in Moskovskaya Street, which leads west from the centre of the city. Try Traktir Razin: it is a nice place with tasty food. Also, you can use restaurants in the two hotels, Lada and Rus. The food is very cheap, but really delicious!
On the first day, walking around in the Trinity Convent, I felt so hungry and was so cold (it was end of Feburary!), that did not have strength to go outside the monastery into the frost and look for a restarant. Fortunately, I met a group of pilgrims who, as I could figure out from their talking, were going to have lunch in the monastery's canteen. I asked if I could join them, and for 20 Rubles I got simple but tasty monastic food: sour cabbage soup, cucumbers, porrige, cookies and stewed friut. I was rescued! This is more or less how many Russian cities looked like 200

You get a lot of food. I expected the salads and soups to be small so that they should be combined with a main dish, but when I had eaten all salad and soup I was so full that I couldn't almost eat anything more!
Haven't been there enough times to say I have a favourite dish. I ate tomatoe salad, borsch and then some meat with paprica and fried potatoes with onion and it was all tasty. My friend had a Siberian soup and some other dish with meat (can't remember which) and he really really liked it.
