Unfortunately, the long distance bus station is a bit inconveniently located along the southern part of Krasny Prospekt. Coming from the city the bus station is just after you go under the railway line to your left. We took the bus to Tomsk which takes 4 hours. Please note that you need to buy a separate baggage ticket for your big luggage. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Despite the common opinion that traveling to Siberia is unbelievably difficult because of the distance involved, the real situation is not at all as terrible as it may seem. First of all, there are several flights connecting Novosibirsk with Europe (Hannover and Frankfurt), approximate flying time of which is 6 hours. Then, there are good domestic connections from Moscow (about 4 hours). The scheduls are on the site: http://www.sibir.net/get_e.phtml We have the Metro/Underground/Subway! The only in the Asiatic part of Russia! Clean and beautiful! it connects the city center. Basically, you will need only the Metro. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

We arrived in Novosibirsk by overnight train from Omsk. I have no experience in buying an onward ticket in this railway station as we left by bus. Leave a Comment

Novosibirsk has one tram line with unreliable, infrequent service. Then there are lots of marshrutkas (minibuses), trolleybuses and a metro. We only used marshrutkas. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

The train is so nice, okay a plane is quikker, but a train, you can look outside, take a sip of your drink, eat nice things, sleep, read books, look outside, go ouside when the train stops i mean what do you want to do more on your holiday!!!! and it is not to expencive. It cost us around 1000 rouble, one way in a coupe. this is from ekaterinburg. the prices for russians and forneighers are the same, do make sure you have the right window where you have to buy your ticket. ditance, was around 1500 km, in the train 20 hours. Novosibirsk metro (the only one to the east to the Ural) was put into operation in 1986. It includes 10 stations and a metro bridge across the Ob river 2145 meters long. Novosibirsk metro is the third in Russia in passengers throughput (250 thousand passengers a day). It is safe to say that Novosibirck metro is the cheapest and the easiest way to move to different parts of the city. Unlike stuffy and always overcrowded Moskow underground, it is quite clean and easy to breathe. Even if you don't know the city well you won't get lost since it comprises not very many stations. To take a metro ride you should buy counters and deposit it into a slot of an automatic entry gate and get in . They are usually sold at every Metro station in booking offices in the Metro entrance halls. The fee for one trip by Metro is fixed, i.e. it doesn't depend on the length of your route. Metro ride presently costs 2.5 Ruble, which is about 10 cents. Advice: never go by metro after you have taken alcohol. They have cops on every station who will not simply let you in.
