 | Omsk Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 10 | | This was a real "local hang out", the prices where VERY Russian 180 rubles for more chicken , beef or pork than you alone could eat, all roasted on a skewer over an outdoor charcoal pit with onions, tomatos (perhaps Zucchini slices, ?? I am unsure just what the "veggey" was, but it was WELL cooked no matter what it was or where it was prepared!)
FOOD in all capital letters was the "menu", if you don't speak, read Russian make sure you have someone with you who does, besides, that might well be the ONLY way you will find it!! A very eclectic crowd to say the least, from bikers, to sports casual, to business suits, it is ALL there. I will try to get better directions!! But when you find it, you will know you have the right place just by the setting and the atmosphere!

This was a very nice but casual restaurant right on the "main drag" very near one of several "shopping malls" (fully enclosed, multi story malls seem to be the "norm" in Russia from what I saw in Omsk, N. Novgorod and Yekaterinburg.) It certainly makes perfect sense, public transportation is thje primary means for most people to get around so the "malls" are in the center of the city rather than the "subrubs". Very nice "ambiance".
They have a large varity of Italian style selections. Lasagna, veggiatarian or "carnivor", Pizza, sagehetti etc. Leave a Comment Theme: ItalianPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Karl Marx StreetDirections: About 8 blocks north of the Circus, two blocks north of the Samsung Electronics store on the east side of the street

We had breakfast in this café but I don't remember what I ate. The interior was in retro look. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalAddress: ul LeninaDirections: coming from direction railway station on ul. Lenina it's just across Yubileny bridge to your right

This isn't a restuarant, but a nice place to relax and have a drink, if it isn't winter. On the opposite side of the bridge that leads to the shopping area of downtown is an outdoor covered area. Sitting along the river drinking beer...nice.
I recommend beer over the mixed drinks, as the mixed drinks are those pre-made canned drinks (see photo). Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: bridge in downtown

Old Omsk - This was the only restaurant I went to during all of my time in Omsk. The rest of the time was spent at friends apartments. Clean, good prices, good food.
Everything was good. I had a great goulash-type dish. It ended up being under $20 for the five of us...unbelievable. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Not exactly sure, but near downtown

While in Omsk I had the opportunity to dine at various restaurants. While most of the restaurants I dined at were Russian, I did also go to Czech and Georgian restaurants also. The restaurants in Omsk were comparable (and sometimes better) to the restaurants in my home city (Los Angeles). The quality of the food was very good and the portions were quite reasonable. I was mostly fond of the Russian cuisine. I had heard stories about restaurants the were not clean and about small portions of food. That was not the situation in any of the restaurants i went to and none of them had "Soviet" service (meaning bad service by rude waiter/waitresses). The service was very good, the people were friendly and the food was just fine with much of it being very tastey! :)
I hope I spell these correctly :) 1) Holodietz 2) Pelmeni Hmmm.... and a few others I don't remember the names of... NOTE: The prices varied depending upon the restaurant. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Most were near the center of OmskDirections: I believe many were on the Red Way or Lenin Street near the center of Omsk.
