... and enjoy watching the buildings, the people. Be amazed from the ladies, specially in summer. They say they dress up because it can always be the most important day in there life. Even for buying sugar in the supermarket they look like they are going to a party.
Anyway, I think they dress up because they check each other out and try to envie another ...

Where the little eagle and big eagle rivers meet to form the Orel (Eagle) River a traiding post was built to link Kiev and Moscow. The original fortress is now gone but there is a monument at the confluence to mark the spot where Orel began. A time capsul is burried at the base of the monument.

Helpfulness
The author Turganev was born near Orel and spent much of his life at his estate near town. He casts a long shadow over the town that has a Turgenev street, and Turganev Theater.
His estate gives you a feel for the lives of the Russian lower nobility. The home is small, just a wing of a planned building, but charming. There are nice gardens, a small chapel and a pond. The paths in the garden are in the shape of the roman numeral 19 because Turgenev believed that the 19th was the greatist of all centuries.
Walking the grounds it is easy to see where he found inspiration for Fathers and Sons and Virgin Soil. The place gives a sence of dejavu to readers of Fathers and Sons.
