This monastery is a real fortress. It guarded west borders of Russia for centuries.
Legend tells that ones when assaulters managed to ruin part of the wall they returned to their camp for a night with a assurance that they will capture the fortress next morning. But in the morning the wall was even stronger than yesterday. All habitants worked all night long carying havy stones to rebuild damaged wall.
This piece of a wall with rounded stones instead of bricks is shown now to tourists.

Favorite thing: "
Those who picture us -
picture us as Red on Black.
Colors like colors,
but I am talking of different to you.
If I could be able...,
I could picture you...
Where Green trees are
and Pure Gold on Blue...
"
