Kavkaz: Food from caucasia that really heats you up!

Doors to the toilets in restaurant Kavkaz

Restaurant Kavkaz has really good food. It is traditionally from Caucasia. Furniture from wood and walls and floors from stone and dark painted and sculptured wood.

A big plus is the clean toilets. Clean public toilets can sometimes be hard to find in Russia.

Favorite Dish: Their soft flat bread! It was served warm and newly baked.
But their spicy fish-soup is also something that you can't miss. It really makes you feel warm and comfortable after a too long walk in a russian rain.

    Dejavu: New cafe in Petrozavodsk

by minnamaria Written Oct 20, 2003
Per, Alexandra and Elli in cafe Dejavu

Their salads and hot sandwiches are good... and the applejuice is not to be forgotten. BUT, we wanted to order blinis (russian pancaces) and they never had any, even though it was marked on the menu.

Favorite Dish: Hot sandwich with salmon. It was made from real bread (not this white one just filled with air...), real tasty salmon and served when hot.

    Kivach: Not only a waterfall...

    Kivach from the outside

Kivach is also the name of a waterall situated near Petrozavodsk. Though everybody tend to smoke in this café, so don't expect to get any fresh air here...
It was hard to give this place a theme... as you can eat lots of things there, and drink whatever you want...
Anyway I've spent a lot of time here with my student friends. It's situated very close to the university.

Favorite Dish: Well, I like the ice cream and their apple juice. But still we spent many evenings here drinking Baltika... (russian beer)

    Interior and Swedes

Whatever you can imagine to eat in Russia, you can eat it in restaurant Petrovska!!!
    Very beautifully furnished.
Food is lovely! You will never walk out of this restaurant and still beeing hungry!
The menu is only written in russian, so bring an interpretor or a detailed dictionairy!
Even though the prices here are higher than average in Petrozavodsk, we payed around 60 USD for 6 people for the whole dinner, including drinks.

Favorite Dish: There is a typical meat-dish from this restaurant. Too good.
And for starters, try russian specialities (or something like it).
You should also try the special Petrovskaja vodka, made in Petrozavodsk. Or Karelia vodka, also very good and made in Petrozavodsk!

The fanclub restaurant of SPARTAK MOSCOW, with many photographs, autographs of the team and different fan-articles. I have eaten a very good salad, called ATTACK... And I hope that Spartak will defeat Bayern Munich two times in the first round of the UEFA Champions league :-)))

'Sanches' saloon. Well, I haven't tryed the real mexican food in real Mexico, but I really like it in Sanches. The waiters wear original clothers, interior and decorations inside are very colorful (I know the designer personally:) ).

Favorite Dish: Fahitas (160 rubles - $5.3), salsa, guakamole, tacos etc.
And draft 'Nevskoe', 'Baltika #7', 'Botchkarev', of course!!! These are famous Russian beer brands. You'd better buy it for 30 rubles ($1)/half liter, than Corona beer for 70/0,33.
Or try 'Karelian balsam' - 45% - original Karelian liqueur.
