After a few days checking out Yakutsk, decided to some hiking and fishing, and so tried to get to downstream on the Lena. This turned out to be impossible (river low and demand high), so I brought a ticket to Sinsk (around 300km upstream, price 750roubles) and found the place very welcoming and a great change from the larger towns.
Things are not simple and you must ask for what you need. Just go to the Administration building and explain what it is you want to do.
Much hospitalty may be offered, or not. But you will find a way.
Sinsk is in a beautiful area, on the Lena river about 18km upstream of the Lensky Stolby. It is also in the middle of a national park. There are many fishing and camping opportunities for the adventerous.
Not a soft option, but was great.
Oh yes, might be an idea to call the Administraion first. The Boat will drop you off on an island in river. Not on the river bank, so you need to have someone, with a boat, waiting for you. Or Find out if anyone else is going there when buying a ticket.
