Well if you are in the World Don Cossacks capital it means you ought to try the following things: fishing on the river Tuzlov or Aksai, go and see real cossack's farms (Stanica Krivyanskaya, 30 mins by bus from the city centre), do sightseeing!

The main attraction in Novocherkassk is the Holy Ascension Cathedral ("Svyato Voznesenski Kafedralni Voiskovoi Sobor") est. 1850. It's beautiful on the outside and inside!

There's a museum called "Donskoi Muzei" on Platovski Prospect. It has information on the Cossacks who used to live there. There's also a cool buffalo statue there. I wanted to take a picture of it, but you're not allowed to take pictures inside the musuem. Maybe if you pay for it you could take pictures. It costs 600 Rubles for a guided tour (about $20 US).

ok, this is the very place to eat at if you speak English! The menu is in English and i presume waitresses speak this language too!
The food is mainly European, but you can find some local dishes too!
Favorite Dish: Pan-cakes with cherry cream - yummy desert:)

The restaurant is situated in the main park called Alexandrov Garden, in the city centre. Both park and restaurant were reconstructed 6 years ago. If you want to listen to live music, dance and meet&watch locals spending their spare time in summer its the very place to go to!
Favorite Dish: Try "Ucha". Its a kind of a soup.
