Favorite thing: Just opposite the beer manufacture you can see the nunnery that was given back to Orthodox Church in 1995. It is Iversky Nunnery, opened in 1850 and got its name in 1860. Next years it was built 4 churches and bell tower on the territory of the nunnery. In 1919 the nunnery was closed of course and the area was divided for workers to live and 10 years later to shoe manufacture. Nowadays the restoration works are going on in all churches of the nunnery.

Favorite thing: On the Frunze Street, there is catholic cathedral. It was built in XIX century and at last I found info about. The church was built in 1906 by Fedor Bogdanovich architect. The Church towers are 47 meters high. In Soviet times it was cosed and only since 1996 the services are available. The church is open every day except Monday in morning and in evening.

Favorite thing: The main pedestrian street of the city. it is situated not far from the embankment. It is crossed with Kuibyishev Street and it's the central part of the city where you can get shopping. Besides there is a monument in the beginning of the street (on the picture) in honour of event, when Samara became the capital of Samarskaya Gubernia (Oblast').

Favorite thing: The biggest square of the city is Kuibyishev Square. Kuibyishev is the city name in USSR times (Kuibyshev was revolutioner). First time I saw a monument I thought it is a monument to Lenin because usually the biggest monument in the biggest square in Russian cities is to him. Now only parade on May 9 (Victory Day in WWII in Russia)happens on the square.

Favorite thing: Ladia is the boat that was used in middle ages in Russia. On the new embankment you can find this monument. You see that in evening here is wonderful view. Besides it is one of the cultural places. In summer there are concerts of rock music here (on the square in front of the monument). My friends told me that during concerts some boats get closer to the embankment and enjoy concerts for free :-))

Favorite thing: In the new embankment there is so named "flying man". It is a memorial in honour of World War II. On the picture is the view to the monument and the river. To the right you see stone and there are names of heroes of USSR in the war who were born in Samara (at least 160 people). Some steps further to the river and you can see the eternal fire.
