there is not much to do in Artyomovski aspecialy when you do not know people. there is a museum, small but with paintings from local artist, some of them very good. There is a disco, and there are some bars. But when there walk around and look around, this is what life in Russia in the rural areas is about, when you speak a lillte russian you might be invited in peoples houses.
it can be good or bad, depends who is cooking abd what kind of mood they are
Food it is okay but the starday nights are great, live music and lots of dancing you can spend the whole night there untill the last people have gone ( can be five in the morning) prices are okay and often the servise too. Musis as I siad if life and played by the twp Sasjas is wondefull They play every song you want for 20 roubles
Going to and around Artyomvski the most comforable way is by car. ( but do not drive your self) We are always lucky they will pick is up for 500 roubles, the last time with the Wolga and my favourite driver, Andrei. Wkat artyomovski takes the less then a hour and half. By taxi it cost around 1000 roubles ( if you speak russian) It is a good way of transport, but you have to kow people.
Going there you can catch the train too. It takes 4 hours, and it will stop 23 times. It is a nice trip too. But beware that if you want to buy a ticket do not ask for Artyomvski but for Eregrosiki! he first time i went by train back to Artyomvski i did not know and they ( the people at the ticket office pretended not to know!) And that why I stranded that time and could not go anywhere. And do not forget the trains run Moscow time ( +2)
Tickets cost 35 roubles
you can get there by bus, it takes around 3 hours and it will cost you 50 roubles. Now a days there are mini busses going every hour.
You can catch the bus at the north bus station, near the trainstation. The trip is nice going trough forrest anf taiga's especailly in the winter, but the summer is nice too. You can see the sheppards with cow, they ride horses.
