    Small wooden cathedral

by fachd Written Jul 20, 2012

This small wooden cathedral is close to Monument of Mikhail Kalinin. I am not sure of the history probably doesn’t have one, it looks new. Anyway it is worth to stand in front of this cute cathedral and take a photo of yourself or your partner. It’s located at Ulitsa Sovetskaya 3 on the edge of City Park.

City Park is located between the Tverskoy Bridge and Old Bridge and along Volga River. It’s quite nice park where you can meander along the river admiring the view. Along the park you can follow the footpath trails through wooded area.

Apparently during summer months the parks comes alive and also people gathers at the park to watch the 11 pm sunset. Yes I can imagine how beautiful that would be.

Putevoy Dvorets is a palace for Catherine II the Great resting point on her journey from Moscow to St Petersburg. It was built under her order in 1775.

From outside the building is impressive but it desperately needing face lift like a coat of paint will do the trick.

At the front there’s a statue of Mikhail Kalinin, small cute wooden cathedral and across the street is an ex KGB building.

The palace is located at Ulitsa Sovetskaya 3 on the edge of City Park.

The palace is open from 11am-6pm Wed-Sun, and admission is only around $ 1.

kayaking on the Volga and Tvertsa

    by Natasha_Deeva Written Jun 7, 2006

May through mid September Tver’s “Zapovedik Vremeni” offer’s kayaking tours on the local rivers. Tours include: transportation, travel equipment (tents, sleeping bags, etc.), food. Tour guides provide excellent assistance and are very friendly. Average cost is $25 per day. Usual length of the tour is 2-5 days.

It’s a lot of fun. Even for someone who has zero experience and has never been kayaking before it will be an enjoyable and very easy trip. We did have concerns about the food, but it turned out that it was pretty tasty and plentiful.

    The Old Volga Bridge

We passed through the old symbolic Old Volga Bridge for the city of Tver. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and it was considered a miracle of engineering but I am not sure why.
