bijo69 Says: In Ul'yanovsk you can visit a the house where Lenin was born and other houses where the family lived (quite a few) aswell as his old school. Unlike in the postcard shown, you won't find large groups there anymore... Usually I was the only visitor.

bijo69 Says: It's quite usual that the warm water is cut off during summer months for maintenance. During my two months stay in Ul'yanovsk there was not a single drop of hot water coming from the tap. So better be prepared:).
Take lots of mosquito repellent!
bijo69 Says: In summer mosquitos are very annoying! Take lots of repellent, some cooling cream and maybe even a mosquito net! It's also a good idea to bring a torch. There are just a few street lights... As the hot water is cut off frequently, bring an immersion heater.
