As I have already written, the set of mysterious legends is connected with Alexandrova Sloboda. It's a legendary library of Ivan IV, secret passages etc. Therefore each summer season numerous excavation are being produced there.
As I have understood students of historical faculties of universities are engaged in excavations. Possibly, it is their educational practice. Probably during such excavation they find something, but as every year students are digging on the same place, I'm sorry, it is impossible to find something new probably, haha!
While walking around the territory of the monastery, I saw a set of a newly-married couple who also were walking there and were taking photo on background of beautiful churches. It has not caused any surprise. Something like that you may see almost everywhere where there is such historical sight.
I was surprised by another unusual custom. When I left a monastery and approached to the bridge through the Seraya river I saw cavalcades of wedding cars. Each cavalcade was stopping in front of the bridge. A newly-married couple was leaving their car. The husband was taking his wife on hands and carried her along the bridge. There he put his wife down on the ground and they again were getting in their car. The cavalcade of wedding cars was getting away, and the new cavalcade with a following married couple was repeating the same procedure. Possibly, it is a local wedding custom!

You may see nuns here. Two of them you may see on my photos (they didn't see that I took photos, I'm sorry). They were working in the garden.
One of the most beautiful legends of Alexandrov Kremlin is about lackey Nikita, dreamed to fly up on wings in heavens "aki (like) a bird". Nikita made wooden wings and flew up like "a free bird". Every Russian knows this legend from childhood but a few knows where it had happened - in Alexandrova Sloboda! We call it the flight of the first Russian Ikar.
For me as person who is concerned with aircraft it was very pleasant and touching the place where Russian aviation was born, haha!
Till today there are many legends and mysteries concerning Alexandrova Sloboda: a disappeared library (Liberia) of Ivan the Terrible, Tsar's family dramas. All these legends and mysteries are kept by the museum-reserve of the old town "Alexandrova Sloboda", which is situated on the grounds of the Tsar Yard.
Among the tsar's books inherited from Sofia Paleolog there were Greek parchments, latin chronographs, hebrew manuscripts. Books were stored in three vaulted cellars near tsar's chambers. A lot of hitorical sources testify it. But the well-known library has mysteriously disappeared and till now is not found. It is considered to be, that its trace breaks in Alexandrov's Sloboda.
The exhibition "In a merchant bench " is devoted to trading-commercial activity of Alexandrov in the second half of the XIX - the beginnings of the XX centuries.
The trading hall of a merchant with various goods "exposed" on sale is presented. Among numerous exhibits there are allocated well-known "cotton-prints", produced in the Troitsko-Alexandrovskaya and Sokolovskaya manufactories belonged to Baranov brothers.
It's interesting to see "home appliances" of that time: various sewing machines of Zinger, laundries and irons, distaffs and coal samovars produced in the enterprises of Tula and Moscow...
In 1778 the sloboda was renamed into town. On its coat of arms two anvils and a vice are represented meaning that the smiths of Aleksandrov were much. In 1788 Ekaterina II had authorized the first regular plan of thetown of Aleksandrov. The pan fixed the already developed structure of the town on both banks of the river Grey. Its basic composite axis became the road conducting to the town centre directly from Moscow, supported with system of the areas: at entrance into the town - Sennaja, in the center - offices and trading, and further behind the bridge - the square before gates of Uspensky monastery.
In 1870 railway tracks going past Aleksandrov from Moscow to Yaroslavl was opened. Alexandrov’s station was constructed on end of an axis of the main street of city. Constructed here in the beginning of XX century and still in existence, the station kept gave rise to the new area of the town. In 1874 new general plan of Aleksandrov has was created. We can assume from the documents we see that the author is architect N.A. Artleben. The project provided the further development of Aleksandrov aside railway station on the basis of the regular plan.
The end of 19th century heralded a sort of a construction boom in Aleksandrov there: buildings of manufactories, factories, lodging for rent, trading and state houses are erected.
Alexandov became a town in 1778, as before it was called Aleksandrovskaja Sloboda, evolving from a small palace village. In the beginning of XVI century Aleksandrovskaja Sloboda becomes Vasily III court. Here the Grand Duke (there were no tzars in Russia in those years) builds " Russian Versailles ", following the fashion of European monarchs. Though the place in not in any way similar to Versailles. Pokrovsky (nowadays called Traitsky) Cathedral (dating back to yaer 1513), created by the best Russian and Italian masters, became the first pearl in Vasily's III country residence.
During Ivan the Terrible’s reign Aleksandrovskaja Sloboda's becomes the center of Russian state. As to why and how this happened see my next tip – on Oprichnina. On the territory of the monarch’s courtyard some true masterpieces of old russian stone architecture are erected: Raspiatskaja church - a belltower, Trinity (nowadays Pokrovskaja) and Uspenskaja churches. Hitherto the Trinity Cathedral is decorated with big copper gates of XVI century which have been taken out by Ivan the Terrible from Tver and Novgorod. You see, he was not exactly gentle with people he thought were not faithful to his rule. Here, in a palace printing house, in 1576 an issue of a “Psaltir Slobodskaja’ (a book of Psalms) was printed by Andronik Nevezhej.
